About RowingHave you ever wondered what it would be like to row in one of those boats, to experience the thrill of moving along the quiet river, just you alone in a boat or with crew mates rowing in harmony?
For those who long to participate in the increasingly popular sport of rowing, the Saugatuck Rowing Club offers a multitude of rowing programs designed to meet varying needs, from the beginner to elite competitor.
Rowing is a perfect conditioner, using all muscle groups with almost no shock to the joints. And while the common belief is that it takes great upper body strength to be able to row well, what really matters is core strength. In rowing, the power is transferred from the legs through the torso to the arms that control the oars in the water and move the boat.
Founded in 1991, SRC has earned a well-deserved reputation for excellence in rowing. With its state-of-the-art fitness center the club is able to provide very sophisticated training and coaching for everyone, no matter the age, gender or ability.
Our 15,000 square foot clubhouse is considered to be a world-class showcase for rowing, encompassing 6,000 square feet of boat storage with easy access to the docks and water. We offer top-of-the-line fitness equipment including a fleet of racing shells and a cadre of professional coaches who guide and encourage individuals to pursue their rowing goals. Browse our site to learn more about rowing and our programs. We hope you will join us down by the river.
