Member Testimonial Stephen Collins SRC Member since February, 2000
"In February of 2000, I found myself in the worst shape of my life. I got a physical and the results were disappointing. At 5' 10", I weighed 215 pounds, my body fat percentage was around 28%, my resting heart rate was in the mid-70's, my cholesterol was 240, my blood pressure was borderline high, my joints hurt and I generally felt rotten.
I failed to make any improvement in my fitness level until the new Club facility opened I began working with a trainer three mornings a week. My goal was to get back in shape so I could do some competitive cycling. Boy did I have a long way to go. Now one year later I weight 175, my body fat is 12%, my resting heart rate is in the mid 50's, my cholesterol is 150, my blood pressure is 118 over 60 and I feel a whole lot better. On top of the improvement in the numbers, I started bike racing in Fall 2001 and during the summer I spent a week at the Tour de France with other competitive cyclists climbing several of the mountains in the race's stages.
Without a doubt, the folks at SRC helped me achieve my goals. My trainer helped me directly by providing the structure and motivation I needed to get through the early tough stage when it is so easy to quit. But it wasn't just him. All the staff at SRC makes it a point to say hi and help you out in any way the can. The facility is fabulous, which also helps to keep one motivated."
