Griffin started rowing at Saugatuck in middle school and raced competitively for 4 years in high school, attending Youth Nationals 4 times. He then rowed at Brown University where he won medals at Eastern Sprints and IRA’s. As a coach, he has worked with athletes at the middle school, high school and masters level.
