Our goal is to form the best setting for our young athletes to grow and mature into better rowers, athletes, and human beings.
The Junior Rowing Program at The Saugatuck Rowing Club was started in 1993. Since then, we have worked hard to form the best setting for our young athletes to grow and mature into better rowers, athletes, and human beings. Rowing is one of the most physiologically and mentally demanding sports that the world has to offer, and has always been one which pushes its practitioners to excel in every aspect of their life. Here at Saugatuck, we believe that this provides the perfect setting to develop children into hard working and resilient young adults who push themselves to go above and beyond, whether it be on the water, on the rowing machine, or in the classroom.
The Program is open to both boys and girls ages 12-18. Practices in the spring, summer and fall seasons consist of both water and land training while the winter season is completely indoors. There are two programs for enrollment, Beginner/Intermediate, and Competitive. In Beginner/Intermediate, young athletes will learn the importance of teamwork while having fun, meeting new friends, and developing competence in the sport of rowing. In the Competitive Program, athletes will aim to compete in races whose scope ranges all the way from the local to the national scale.
Our coaches are dedicated to providing the highest level of professional instruction and mentoring for both competitive and recreational rowers in a safe and supportive environment.
