Adult Rowing

Those who have experienced rowing know there’s nothing quite like it. The grace of the sport’s form and movements, the peacefulness of gliding on the water as day breaks, the satisfaction of personal achievement, and the camaraderie of working within a team - rowers will tell you that rowing is metaphysical, bringing relaxation to both mind and body with each stroke. But there are also very practical health and fitness benefits to taking up this sport. Almost anyone can row regardless of age or level of fitness and it’s a sport that can be enjoyed lifelong.

SRC offers an array of adult programs that provide a safe and supportive opportunity to anyone interested in rowing. Our coaches guide beginners, recreational rowers, and experienced rowers through specific programs.

SRC rows on the water from March through November, then indoors for Winter Training. You must be a member of SRC to row in our group training programs and race in regattas. All fees below are in addition to our monthly membership fee. See Membership Levels.

Expectations

Everyone learns at a different rate, but you will most likely not receive approval to row on your own after only 4 weeks (1 month clinic). Most need two months of clinics or you can supplement with private lessons.

Adult Winter Rowing Program

SRC offers winter training coaches sessions. Each Sesson is 90 minutes and meets three times a week. We offer classes every 90 minutes from 5:30-11:30am. The training consists of rowing on the Concept II machine, mixed with weights, bikes and body weight exercises. Mobility, core strength and overall body balance are key features of this program.  Various team challenges, partner workouts and clever designs are also used to keep the workouts fun and interesting.

The workload and intensity of these classes is high, but can be scaled to accommodate athletes of different levels.  Even if you don’t know how to row, this is a great way to get started and get in the best shape of your life.
